How To Enter God's Peace

People blame God for all the suffering in the world. Is it His fault? Let's take a fresh look at God's love for us. Let's consider the restored relationship we can now enjoy with God.

A visitor to this web site wrote:

I pray that I can be delivered and totally free from all of this pain, but I'm wondering about whether or not it is in God's will for me to be happy in the first place. I look at too many people in wheel chairs and various forms of pain and I feel that if He isn't healing them then what makes me think that He will heal me? I'd like to be healed but I don't know whether God is going to do it. Yours, Sioux

Any one of us who has any sensitivity for the plight of people suffering in the world must have asked questions of themselves and of God as to why it continues to go on

Most of us, though, came up with the wrong answers for we hadn't yet fully comprehended our Heavenly Father's heart of love and the significance of what He did for us by sending His Son to us.

One of my favourite scripture passages revealing to us the love of God for us is found in John's first epistle.

"This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about - not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God."

John 4:9-10 - The Message Translation

The clearing away of our sins and the restoration of our relationship with God means we can now really live through Jesus. Those of us who have accepted the work of Christ through the cross are no longer heirs of indignation but joint heirs with Christ. We are no longer children of wrath but children of God. (Eph.2:3-7) We have been delivered from the power of darkness and conveyed into the kingdom of God's Son. (Col.1:13) We were far off from God but now we are very near!

God, by sending Jesus as the Lamb of God to be sacrificed on the cross, did everything that needed to be done for everyone, for all time, so that we may have life, liberty and peace in all realms of our existence.

This is what the Bible is declaring to us when it says,

"Behold the Lamb of God...He made peace through the blood of His cross...Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us...By whose stripes you were healed...Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us."

John 1:36; Colossians 1:19; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 5:7. - NKJV

God in Jesus has done everything necessary for our complete and perfect well-being in all areas of our lives.

In the Epistle to the Hebrews we read,

By that single offering (Christ's sacrifice at Calvary), he did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in that purifying process.

Hebrews 10:14 - Message Translation

You ask, "What makes me think He will heal me?" You can think this because the "everyone" this scripture speaks of includes you! You have taken part in that purifying process of the blood and the setting apart work of the Spirit through your acceptance of Christ and His sacrifice for you.

You now have free access to the Father. You now have your personal part in the New Covenant. (Ephesians 2:12-13) You and I have a covenant relationship with God and God is always mindful of the covenant on which that relationship is based. (Psalm 111:5) This covenant - the New Covenant - is His pledge to us because of what Jesus has done. It is a pledge of defence, deliverance, promotion and provision.

You say, "I don't know whether God is going to heal me." In Jesus God has already healed you! In His Word God has declared,

"By whose stripes we were healed!"

1 Peter 2:24 - NKJV

God has put His work of healing in our lives in the past tense. He saw it happen at the cross of Christ! So the question isn't, "Is God going to heal me?" but rather, "Am I going to see - evident in my body - this healing that Jesus bought for me?"

Everything that needed to be done for your healing has already been done. You haven't realised it yet. You haven't seen it yet. It hasn't fully opened up to you what Jesus has done. This is why Isaiah asks,

"Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

Isaiah 53:1 - NKJV

Then Isaiah declares,

"He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."

Isaiah 53:5 - NKJV

This is the work Christ has done for you at Calvary! How is this work to be evident - visible - in your spirit, soul and body? The prophet Isaiah (with the Holy Spirit) was clearly expecting two things from us. Firstly, that we believe his report and, secondly, that the revelation dawns within us that the arm of the Lord has saved us.

No wonder then Paul prays for the believers at Ephesus,

"May (the Father) give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened; that you may know what is...the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe."

Ephesians 1:17-19 - NKJV

Pray this for yourself and the Holy Spirit will become for you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. By the Word and by God's Spirit you will come into that blessed position where you can answer "Yes" and "Yes, again" to Isaiah's two questions!

As this happens you'll notice something else take place. Scriptures that previously seemed mysterious, unfathomable and impossible to receive on face value will become alive to you. You will see how you ought to respond to them and be stirred to act upon them. You will find yourself praying them and doing them. You will find yourself accepting their testimony more than the testimony of your physical senses. Your confession will become at one with Paul's, "For we walk by faith, not by sight". (2 Corinthians 5:17.)

At that moment, the healing that has been yours all along in Christ Jesus will be available for manifestation in the physical. What God had performed and you had hoped for without seeing, your faith will be about to bring into reality in this world. This happened before at your new birth and it will be happening again. Again the scripture will be fulfilled in your life that declares,

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."

Ephesians 2:8 - NKJV

God will say to you what Jesus said to the woman healed of the issue of blood,

"Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace!"

Luke 8:48 - NKJV

God has done it all! Let His Word and His Spirit bring you to the place where it is seen in your life!
