In hope I wait
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!" The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.
Lamentations 3:24-25 - NKJV
My hope in God gives me a different stance in life from most people. It is certainly a different approach to life from those people I meet who are outside of Christ. I wonder what they think. People in the world regularly get frantic as to what to do and want to rush whatever they can through. But, there I am, with body language which says, "I don't know what you're getting all worked up about. Let's wait awhile and take a bit more time."
Among my Bibles I have a modern story teller's Bible called "The Street Bible" by Rob Lacey. Rob presents in it many familiar passages in a very fresh way. This morning I read, "God's all I've got; I'll wait for Him to show up." The New King James Version reads, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I hope in Him!" This comparison woke me up to a powerfully relevant view of hope. Between hope and wait there is a direct and special connection. We hope in God. Because of this hope we have in Him we wait for Him. Indeed, we wait for Him to show up.
I wait instead of trying to make something happen from nothing. Is that how you are? In your hope in God train yourself to wait for God. Wait for God to bring on the scene His resources and His response to the situation you face. Don't be lazy and don't be complacent but do be content to wait for God to put things right and put things straight. He is more than willing to do that. Present your request to Him in prayer.
Good things come to those who wait on God!
