Peace in Christ Jesus

by Pastor Simon

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27 - NKJV

The peace of God in Jesus Christ is marvellous! It's given to us to cover every area of our lives. The Amplified Bible describes God's peace as, "Perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts."

At sea with Jesus in the boat the disciples should have been in peace but fear at the storm left them standing outside of peace. In panic they woke up Jesus. Likewise, Martha should have been in peace with Jesus in her home but her care about many things prevented her entering into it. A troubled or fearful condition of heart will prevent God's peace being experienced in our lives. Why don't we live in it all the time? Because fear, intimidation or a burden of cares rob us of our ability to enter into it! God's peace is there for you but you have to enter it. For this reason Jesus commanded, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid!" This means you need to take action. Mar.4:38, Luk.10:40.

You have to secure your heart from anxiety and fear in order to live in God's peace. Here are five steps for securing your heart: 1) Pour out your heart to God in prayer. Psa.62:8, Phil.4:6-7. 2) Cast all your cares and burdens on Him. 1Pet.5:7, Psa.55:22. 3) Reject the temptation to worry or fear. Isa.41:10. 4) Focus your thoughts on Jesus. Isa.26:3. 5) Voice His praise and His promises. Ro.4:20.

Take action to enter God's peace!
