The Boomerang Principle
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23 - KJV
Why do we need a Saviour? What do we need saving from? Questions like this all lead back to one reality of life - sin. About this people should ask themselves two questions. 1) Is sin present in people's lives? 2) Is there anyone on earth in whom no sin is found? If you find you answer "Yes" to the first question and then "No" to the second then you have found the answer to the questions I started with.
"Why do we need saving from sin?" you ask, "Why can't we just live with it?" Why not? Because of the boomerang principle! What you put out in life comes back to you. When it comes to sin, the sin you've put out is going to come back and whack you in the head. There is, however, an escape. Someone can step into the way, catch it and so save you from it. If someone from our realm of sin attempted to do that he would himself be destroyed and you would still get whacked in the head. The only possible rescue is for someone outside of this realm to come and to get in the way of the returning violence of sin.
Jesus came. Jesus came from the realm of Heaven not as a son of Adam but as the Son of God. He lived and then died to catch the boomerang of sin for all men. His act of catching it is effective in the lives of all those who say, "I need saving from this; Jesus, be my Saviour!" Jesus has the ultimate testimony that He was qualified to catch sin for all men - it is His resurrection! If you haven't already done it, won't you acknowledge your need for salvation and ask Him to be your Saviour?
Salvation is for everyone and everyone needs it!
