Part 1: Freedom in the blood

(This is part 1 of 10 parts in this class)

In my life there have been moments in which I've made awful blunders; times when I was like Peter following the Lord "a far off"! If I were to go over these blunders now in my mind I would be inviting in remorse and I would end up robbed of God's gift of joy.

I have experienced both the strength of joy and the weakness of its lose. Now I know I can't afford to let myself get robbed of joy by entertaining memories of past sin and failure. I refuse to give such memories any time or space.

It's easy for me to make that decision because I know that the sin of my past has been lifted away by the blood of Jesus. On the very day I confessed with my mouth that Jesus was my Lord His blood removed my sin. The blood of Jesus wiped out the sin of my past. This is what the blood of Jesus has done for everyone who has accepted that sacrifice.

How do we know the blood of Jesus has wiped out the sin of our past? We know this because God's Word declares it.

Apostle Paul writes,

Christ Jesus, Whom God put forward (before the eyes of all) as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood (cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received) through faith.

Romans 3:24-25 - Amplified Bible

He continues,

God has done this to demonstrate his righteousness both by the wiping out of the sins of the past and by showing in the present time that he is a just God and that he justifies every man who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:25-26 - Phillips' translation
