Class 15: Word power
Previous Part
Jesus taught us about the power of our words. First, He told us that, when we are caused to speak from our hearts, we speak out of what is in our hearts in an overflow. He said,
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Matthew 12:34 - NKJV
Then, He instructed us that the resulting spoken words have a direct impact on our world - they either bear good into our world or they bear evil into it. He said,
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
Matthew 12:35 - NKJV
Jesus was presenting another view of a principle and truth taught by the prophets. Solomon wrote about the power of words in Proverbs. We read,
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21 - NKJV

The tongue of the wise is health.
Proverbs 12:18 - NKJV
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom - the provider of divine, absolute wisdom. By you can be wise and have a tongue that is health in the world. The tongue of the wise is the tongue of the spiritual mind - the mind that is responsive to and controlled by the Holy Spirit
The choice is really yours. Will you be wise by the Holy Spirit and use your tongue to promote health and life? Or will you continue to allow your tongue to speak evil and death into your world?
