Part 5: Minding the things of God!

(This is part 5 of 9 parts in this class)

You say, "My problems are so big! How can I prevent my focus being drawn to them just as Peter's focus was drawn to the wind?"

This is how to do it! Persistently displace every thought of the impossibility of your situation with the possibility that God's Word presents to you. You should follow the exhortation that says, "For every look at your problems take a hundred looks at the promises of God!"

The apostle Paul wrote,

They that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Roman 8:5 - KJV

In other words, instead of minding the things of the problem, mind the things of the Spirit of God - the things He is saying to you in your heart and through His Word. What will you hear Him saying? You'll hear words of counsel, guidance, exhortation, encouragement, comfort and strength.

Paul tells us how wonderful this way of living will be. He writes,

To be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:6 - KJV

(Please understand here that by doing this you are not denying the problem exists but refusing to acknowledge it has any power over you. You are looking to the Problem-solver and His solution. You are denying the problem the right to remain a problem.)
